Snapback Pro EA for MT5 – trading the snap back after overstretched daysFeatured
Snapback Pro EA is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5. It waits for a day on which price runs far beyond the previous day's range. Moves like that rarely last. Snapback lets the first real pullback show, then enters against the stretch and works the trade as a linear grid until the whole basket can be closed in profit with a trailing stop. It is built for traders who know what a grid without a stop loss means and who can put the recommended capital on an account of its own. It is not a fit for anyone who wants a fixed stop loss on every trade. Single positions have no stop loss, and the supplied set files use no equity stop. Past results, in a backtest or on a live account, don't guarantee future results, and trading with an EA can lose money.
The core logic is simple to describe. The EA builds levels from the previous day's range and waits until price closes beyond them on the signal timeframe, H1 by default. In the set files that level is 423 %, which is more than four times half of the previous day's range. A virtual entry order then trails price at a pullback distance. Only when price turns and reaches that order does the first position open, against the stretch. If price keeps running, the EA adds positions at fixed steps. The lot grows by one start lot every three orders. That is linear, not exponential like a martingale.
One EA on one chart trades up to 20 pairs. An account-wide rule keeps at most 5 pairs at risk at the same time; pairs whose basket is already in trailing profit do not count. Ready-made set files exist for 3, 5 and 7 pairs, each running from one CADJPY M15 chart. Snapback Pro EA is developed by Pitt Petruschke (AlgoVerdict) and sold on Algo Trading Space. The developer runs it on his own live account at RoboForex, and our Account Tracker follows it on this page. That account is young, one to two weeks live, so read it as an early look at how Snapback trades, not as a track record.

Buy and sell baskets run separately; on a netting account the EA runs in a reduced mode only.
Every step of a Snapback cycle follows fixed rules. Buy and sell baskets run separately: a buy basket follows a stretch to the downside, a sell basket a stretch to the upside.

After the stretch, a virtual entry order trails price at a pullback distance, 20 pips by default.

Three methods use the profit of newer positions to close the oldest, worst entries early.
Three methods use the profit of newer positions to close the oldest, worst entries early. The losing position is always closed first. By default they start from 4 open positions. They shrink the basket by netting profit against loss. They do not make losses disappear: if price keeps running against the basket, the grid still grows.
Once the basket is far enough in profit, the EA places a stop on all positions and trails it.
Once the basket is far enough in profit, the EA places a stop on all positions and trails it. An equity stop is built in, but it is switched off in the set files. If you switch it on and it triggers, it closes the baskets at a loss. It prevents the stop-out, but it makes the loss final.

By default, a holiday filter stops new cycles from 22 December to 5 January. A news filter uses the MT5 economic calendar and works only live, not in the Strategy Tester. Snapback Pro EA runs on MetaTrader 5 and needs a hedging account with low spreads.

Snapback is a grid EA. Whether it fits depends less on your style than on your capital and how you handle drawdown.
You know what a grid without a stop loss means.
You know what a grid without a stop loss means. You put the recommended capital for your set on an account of its own, use a hedging account with low spreads and run the EA around the clock on a VPS. You want one chart to manage several pairs.
You run the set in your own Strategy Tester with real ticks on your broker's data, then on a demo account, before any live money.
You run the set in your own Strategy Tester with real ticks on your broker's data, then on a demo account, before any live money. You know that a test on one broker's data says little about another broker's spreads and swaps.
You want a fixed stop loss on every trade.
You want a fixed stop loss on every trade. Or you want to start below the recommended capital, or you read backtest figures as an expectation for the future. In that case Snapback is not for you. A long trend against an open basket is the main risk, and with too little capital it ends in a stop-out.
Snapback only enters after a close beyond a stretch level built from the previous day's range, then a real pullback to a virtual entry order.

No more than 5 pairs can be at risk at the same time.
No more than 5 pairs can be at risk at the same time. That is why more pairs do not automatically mean more open risk. Pairs that share a currency, such as CAD in several pairs of the sets, can still move together.
Two pairs that did badly in the test, EURAUD and EURJPY, are left out of the sets.

The dashboard shows the status of the chart's pair, the next entry order, a stretch radar, the spread against the spread limit, the open positions per side and the state of the three drawdown methods. The portfolio table lists every pair with its timeframe, status, result, max drawdown, lots and positions. Buttons let you pause, close one side or close everything. A switch per pair stops new cycles without removing the EA; an open basket is still managed. Snapback should run around the clock on a VPS.
Before you go live, run your set in the Strategy Tester with real ticks on your own broker's data. The news filter does nothing in the tester. Then run it on a demo account. Watch how the virtual entry order trails price, how the grid adds positions and how the basket stop trails. Keep the recommended capital on an account of its own: the drawdown of other EAs on the same account adds to Snapback's. Decide before the first trade whether you want the equity stop on, knowing that it turns a deep drawdown into a realized loss.
Technical and operational details about the strategy and how to run it.
The EA runs on one CADJPY M15 chart and uses H1 as the signal timeframe by default. The 3-pair set trades GBPCAD, CADJPY and NZDUSD. The 5-pair set adds NZDCAD and USDCAD. The 7-pair set adds NZDCHF and EURCHF. One EA can trade up to 20 pairs.
It is a grid EA. If price keeps running against the trade, the EA adds positions at fixed steps. Single positions have no stop loss, and the set files use no equity stop. The lot grows linearly, by one start lot every three orders, not exponentially as in a martingale. A multiplier mode exists but is not used in the sets.
At a 0.01 start lot the developer recommends 2,500 USD for the 3-pair set and 5,000 USD for the 5-pair and 7-pair sets, on an account of its own. More pairs on less capital raise the risk of a stop-out.
A long trend against an open basket. The grid keeps growing, the drawdown gets deep, and with too little capital it ends in a stop-out. Up to 5 baskets can run against you at once. Swap on baskets held overnight and longer is part of the cost.
A MetaTrader 5 hedging account with low spreads. On a netting account the EA runs in a reduced mode only. If your broker adds a suffix to symbol names, you enter it once in the inputs.
Yes, a young one. The developer runs Snapback on his own RoboForex account, and our Account Tracker follows it on this page. It has run for one to two weeks, so treat it as an early look, not a track record.
Snapback Pro EA costs 99 EUR plus VAT as a one-time payment on Algo Trading Space. After you buy it, run the set in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account before trading live.
Yes. The EA manages open baskets, adds grid orders and trails the basket stop. While the terminal is offline none of that happens, and open positions stay open.
